End Of Year Chairman's Reception - Community Blog View Post - IET Engineering CommunitiesOn 14th December, 2017 the IET Victoria Committee and the Young Professional (YP) Committee hosted the Annual Chairman Reception at the Metropolitan Hotel in Melbourne. The event welcomed professionals from all ranges of industries, students, as well as committee members from Engineers Australia and representatives of EECON and members of the IET. This was an occasion to reflect over the year in review for the IET Victoria Committee as well as to network amid experienced and young professional before the conclusion of 2017.During the evening, Chairman Arthur Baoustanos gave an insightful speech on the IET core values and purpose: inspiring the next generation of engineers, informing the wider engineering community, and influencing government and standards to advance society. Coming up over the next ten months there will be a program of technical lectures, CPD sessions and social and networking opportunities.Giulia Marzetti spoke on behalf of the YP Committee and presented the plan for the upcoming year, which includes continuing to provide life skills and leadership training events to students and early career professionals, delivering the flagship Present Around the World (PATW) competition, joint activities with university student societies including the Melbourne University Electrical Engineering Club and organising events with young committees of Engineers Australia and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.We are confident 2018 will be a great year for the IET Victoria Network and we look forward to welcoming new professionals to the IET family and to collaborate with a range of different institutions.Credits: Author: Giulia Marzetti Photos: Thejeswi Raghavendran (TJ) - Communities on TheIET.org
